Με περισσότερους από 40 συμμετέχοντες, στελέχη και συνεργάτες των 12 φορέων, οργανισμών και ιδρυμάτων που απαρτίζουν το εταιρικό σχήμα του LIFE MareNatura, πραγματοποιήθηκε η υβριδική εναρκτήρια συνάντηση του έργου στις εγκαταστάσεις του ΕΛΚΕΘΕ, από τις 18 έως τις 20 Οκτωβρίου 2023.
Το πρόγραμμα της συνάντησης περιλάμβανε αρχικά την παρουσίαση του κάθε φορέα και τη γνωριμία των εταίρων μεταξύ τους, όπως επίσης και τη συνοπτική παρουσίαση του έργου και των δράσεών του.
Η 2η ημέρα ξεκίνησε με τη συνοπτική παρουσίαση των ειδών του προγράμματος, των στόχων προστασίας της θαλάσσιας μεγαπανίδας από την Οδηγία Πλαίσιο για τη Θαλάσσια Στρατηγική και στην κατάσταση, τις απειλές και τις προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίζουν ή αναμένεται να προκύψουν μελλοντικά για τις ελληνικές θαλάσσιες προστατευόμενες περιοχών Natura 2000. Στη συνέχεια πραγματοποιήθηκε η παρουσίαση των κυριότερων δράσεων του έργου και συζητήθηκαν οι προκλήσεις που θα κληθεί το εταιρικό σχήμα να αντιμετωπίσει κατά την υλοποίησή τους.
Την τελευταία μέρα της εκδήλωσης, πραγματοποιήθηκαν εσωτερικές συναντήσεις συντονισμού των εξειδικευμένων ομάδων έργου που θα αναλάβουν τις έρευνες πεδίου, την επικοινωνία του έργου, τη διαχείριση των δεδομένων που θα προκύψουν από τις έρευνες, τον εντοπισμό και καθορισμό των «θερμών σημείων» βιοποικιλότητας, όπως επίσης και την εκπαίδευση όλων των εμπλεκομένων. Οι αποφάσεις που πάρθηκαν από τις ξεχωριστές ομάδες, παρουσιάστηκαν και συζητήθηκαν μεταξύ όλων των εταίρων κατά το κλείσιμο της 3ης και τελευταίας μέρας της συνάντησης.
